bachelor's degree in Physics education. Since the high school I have dreamed to be an engineer in the software engineering or in computer.
I was frightened not to be an university student and that was the real reason why I put my second choice to Physics Education in Unimed on the nearly last time of SPMB 2007. I hoped that I could be a university student whether or not the
field of interest was my real dream. And, here it is, I passed all way here .
I was suffered in my first year. I really wanted to leave all of this if I could. But in fact I continue my study and survive until this last term. But I still keep my dream alive in my heart, nothing seems could distinguish it.
So, I joined some communities in Medan related to Operating system and technology, they are Linux User Group Indonesia-Medan (LUGI-Medan,Bhs Indonesia: Kelompok Pengguna Linux Indonesia-Medan) and IT Community Unimed. I joined both community just to make sure that I will never forget my real passion, Computers and Algorithms (Software).
And something for good, I am still searching for the big relation of Physics and GNU/Linux, the field that probably I will be interested in more than ever. I read in the Internet that Physician use GNU/ Linux servers to run their Quantum Physics software—I still have no idea about it. I read that even the Fermilab in USA and LHC in Geneva are using GNU/
Linux in their servers to run large scale of research. This must be really interesting.
Okay, and now all the things resulted one big thing to me: I don't think that to be a teacher is my real desire.
But here, I will describe a little about my situation in Physics Education. Our learning activities (in class-room) here were
really varied. There are many learning-models that the lecturer applied in the class-room.
According to my experience, the most applicably learning-model here was the Direct Instruction Model and
Cooperative-learning. Nearly every courses do this.
Until now on, I realize that I'm not really good in Physics—regardless of what learning model was used.
There are so many advanced-physics courses that I do not master, thought I got a good grade for them, say “B”. They are Mathematical Physics, Quantum Physics, Electrodynamics, Thermodynamics, Matriks Ruang Vektor,
and Modern Physics.
And in this term, I face three other fundamentals, Introductory to Nuclear Physics, Introductory to Solid Physics, and Introductory to Statistical Physics. This term is really a term of challenge. I promise my self
to review all the Physics Education has offer me. It is the time to debug the bugs in my head. To review all the wrong codes that I have written and to repair the algorithms that have caused error.
And to everything, nothing could I say other than this: “Learning!” I will continue to learn not only to learn new things but also to learn not to forget old things. I will continue to learn about life-- that probably will take a life time to understand.
